George Walter Arlidge 3
George Walter served in World War I where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He returned to New Zealand and after a varied career, established the business of G.W. Arlidge & Co., fruit and vegetable wholesalers, in Palmeston North. His business later became Arlidge Bros. (in which several of his six sons took part), and which later was taken over by Turners and Growers, a New Zealand-wide distributor or fruit and vegetables.
• Military Service: Ex-serviceman. • Occupation: Retired Fruit and Produce Merchant, 1873. George married Jean Neilson in 1919 in Boldmere, Warwickshire, England. (Jean Neilson was born in 1893 in Edinburgh, Scotland.) |
