an amateur flutist and poet. He is described as being 6 feet tall with broad shoulders and red hair and beard, but in advanced years - white hair and beard.

• Emigration: On sailing vessel Lake Erie, 29th April 1870, Quebec. The crossing took 5 weeks to Quebec. Information in letter written by Walter Frederick Conybeare to an Arlidge in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Spelling is retained as written. (from Bob Arlidge - June 2006).

Lake Erie was an iron built sailing vessel re-rigged as a bark - 938 tons built in 1868 and operated by Canada Steam Ship Company.
